Haiku
what right does eternity have
to decide that I may never
see her again
I have always found the Haiku a rather fickle medium. As a pixel artist and someone who is mortal, I appreciate that restriction breeds creativity, but the Haiku is to me all too short to really imprint any meaning on my mind. As such, to try out the form, I have written a short haiku above, which I think is terrible, but there we are.
The form is not of the normal 5-7-5, as apparently it does not translate very well from japanese to english, and my 5-7-5 variant (below) was even worse:
what right does time have
to decide that I may see
her never again
The Best Haiku I have ever read is "Haiku" by William J. Harris (https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/poems/159451/haiku-63b58b4517586) which goes like this:
"On the phone, my grandfather’s voice
so frail
No, my father’s"
Quite tender, I think - Beautiful in its brevity.
